crusty eyes

Question
my hamster 2 and a half years old and her eyes have become crusted shut i read somewhere on this site to clean thim with a hot cloth but i havent seen the vet yet ive also given her some yogurt and celery

Hi Dominik,


        This generally happens to older hamsters.  Dip a Q-tip in warm water ( not hot, this could burn your hamster) and gently rub it over the eye from corner to nose until the eye comes open. Do not try and pull the eyelid open, they are very delicate and can tear easily.
