winter white dwarf fighting

Question
recently, my husband and i bought 2 hamsters for our 11 year old son. We bought a pretty elaborate cage, all sorts of accessories, and added more for extra play. the hammies got in a fight and one of them now has a problem with his eye. i am a nurse, and to me it looks like a corneal abrasion with a laceration to the eyelid. normally, i would rinse this with sterile saline solution, but the hammy bites me when i come close. my first question is how should i clean this wound or should i let him heal it alone? my next question is should i separate the hammies? they were together in the cage at the pet store and the cage is huge with a lot of hiding spots. they have not gotten into a fight (that i know of) since yesterday when the first fight happened, but i would feel terrible if something worse happened. should i take the mean one back to the store and just let the little one live alone? or should i wait it out and see how they get along now that they know who is boss? thanks a lot.

Answer

Just let the hamster heal the wound itself. I would definately seperate the hamster, from experience, things only get worse. I had a set that were in the same cage, and the one became dominate, and wouldn't let the other one eat or drink.
