hamster burned

I feel horrible, my 5year old daughter thought it would be a good idea to rinse our family hamster off in the sink with water by herself, well she must have had the water at the hottest point and accidently dropped him, my husband walked in and picked the hamster up.  I noticed that under his tail and his back legs were all red and peeling looking.  That was on 6/4, today those areas are turning a dark black color.  Will our hamster heal or do I need to take him to a vet....please help, I feel awful just looking at him..

    So sorry to hear. I feel that in the best interest of the hamster that he should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. The areas turning black lead me to think that the tissue is dying and there could also be a chance of infection.
