thank you for your question.
You can offer a bowl with unfertilized, organic potting soil to dig in, but the hamster will make a huge mess with it. If that doesn't bother you, I actually recommend it, it's so much fun for hamsters. You can also grow some grass from the seeds in the hamster food in a bowl with soil. You just have to make sure that the soil is fairly dry when offering it to the hamster so that he doesn't get wet.
