why nocturnal

What makes hamsters nocturnal - are they born this way or is it environmental?  Can you change a hmster and make them diurnal if you change their environment?

hamsters are born to be nocturnal, and the reason for this is because, in the wild they live in the desert and sleep during the day when its too warm to come out, and wake up at night when its cooler, also they cant see very well as it is, so being awake during the day is more hassle than its worth to them.

ive never heard of a hamster that has been trained to stay awake during the day and sleep at night, you can try it but i doubt it will work, there natural body clock will tell them when its night time and will probably just wake up then too.
