Gerbil and paper with ink on it

Hi! Is it safe to give gerbils paper with typed print (ink) on it for them to chew, or perhaps even for bedding?  They seem to love to chew paper, so we give that to them a lot. But we were worried that perhaps the ink was bad for them, i would appreciate an answer for this question.

Hi Rachel,

It is not wise to give paper/card with ink on it, as they can get ink poisoning just as we can. It does seem to be rare but it is not worth taking the risk. Stick to plain paper if you can. I give mine egg boxes, but just pull of the ink part!!
