hamsters making noise

long haired male hamster.
he is about a 1 year old male hamster. he made a kind of snoring noise the other day he was asleep when he did this. what was the noise and why, i am worried there is something wrong.

well this is a strange question lol, i dont really know what this could be but ill give you a couple of ideas.

1. your hamster may have reached sexual maturity because of his age, this may be a subconsious mating call.

2. he is getting a cold, look for signs of weight loss, not eating or drinking, or just been less active than usual. if this is whats happening, feed him a few drops of luke warm milk and honey. it wont solve the problem but will build his immune system until you can get him to a vet.

3. he may just be dreaming.

4. he may be having an allergic reaction to sprays, aerosols or his bedding, is it bedding which comes with aromatherapy oils on it to stop him getting smelly? if so use some that is just plain old shredded paper, u could rip up some kleenex or unscented toilet tissue until you can find a better bedding.

im really sorry i couldnt give you a straight answer, ive heard of hamsters making noises but not when they are asleep, just keep an eye on him for the next few days, if he shows any signs of a cold, take him to a vet immediately. if this noise stops, chances are he was just having a really active dream lol
