Question
Should I put the male into the females cage, and the female in the males cage when she has the babies or leave her in her own cage?

Question -
When I found out my female hamster is pregnant, do I keep the male and female seperate? And when do I make them seperate?
Answer -
Dear Amber,
thank you for your question.
You need to seperate the hamsters now because the female will fight the male sooner or later. All hamsters including dwarf hamsters are strictly solitary animals. Dwarf hamsters might live together for a while peacefully, but eventually they will fight or even kill each other.
The babies will be able to mate when they are four weeks old, so you must seperate the males from the females when they are three weeks old or you will end up with even more babies. The males cannot stay with their father, they will fight. The females can stay a bit longer with their mother, but they will fight, too, when they are four, five weeks old.
Start looking for good homes for the babies now, it's not as easy as it seems. Many people will tell you that they want a cute little hamster, but for some reason they cannot take one after all. Hamsters given to pet shops often end up as snake food and even if they do not, you won't know whether they came to a good home.
I hope I was of some help

Answer
Dear Amber,
all hamsters should be housed alone. If you want to breed them, you can put the female in the male's cage but you have to watch them all the time in case they fight. But I really advise against breeding them unless you are very knowledgeable about genetics and heredity and are sure to find good homes for the babies.
Don't house them together, they both need their own cage.
