Hamster ate chocolate!!!

Question
Hello! My son has a White Russian Dwarf Hamster. He takes very good care of her but one night, we accidently left the cage open and she got out. We found her in the morning under his bed and put her back in her cage.  Yesterday, while cleaning out his room, I found some Hershey Kisses that were in a basket on the floor next to his bed. About three of them have been chewed on right through the wrapper!!! We do not have a problem with other rodents in our house and they were definitely not eaten by a human!  So it must have been "Snow".  I would have thought that the chocolate or the foil wrapper would have killed her but she seems fine.  It happened about a week and a half ago. Should we still be worried about her or is she OK since it's been so long?

Thanks!

Answer
Hello! Wow congrats on finding her! With her being so small it's nearly impossible to find them once they escpae. Snow is just fine. A little bit of chocolate shouldn't hurt her. After a week of monitoring and she seems fine then she's perfectly ok. Even though chocolate and foil aren't good for rodents she probably didn't injest much chocolate to do any serious harm. She just had a wild night out of partying and chocolate and foil. lol. :-)
