today when I was cleaning my hamsters cage I found dark green stuff and I dont know exactly what it is and  want him to die please HELP me.

Hi Ashlyn,

It sounds like your hamster may have diarrhea.  Clean the cage thoroughly, and then fill it with plenty of Aspen or Carefresh bedding (not Pine or Cedar, which are dangerous to small animals).  To rid your hamster of diarrhea, feed him only his regular dry mix of hamster food.  Don't feed him any fruits or vegetables right now.  Also, make sure he has plenty of water.

The diarrhea should clear up within a day or two.  (If it doesn't, take your hamster to a vet.)  Wait a couple of weeks before you begin feeding your hamster any fruits or vegetables.

In the future, to prevent diarrhea, avoid feeding your hamster too many fruits or vegetables.  Give him small amounts 2-3 times per week, then gradually build up to a piece every day.
