Hammie going bald

I'm sorry but I don't know the ham ham's age.My sis's hamsters Cream is going bald in 2 differnt places!1 on her side and 1 on her tummy!Her skin is red and she scatches them alot!Please tell me if she has a disease!!!!!

Hi Aaron,

    First, if you are using pine or cedar bedding, this could be causing the hair loss and scratching. These types of bedding are toxic to hamsters and can cause many different types of health problems and the bedding should be changed as soon as possible to Aspen or a type like Critter Care. If you are not using cedar or pine, it is possible the hamster has mites (tiny red dots moving around on your hamster). Look over the hamster, if mites are present, then the hamster should be seen by a vet.
