Question
My boyfriends parents are taking a trip and we are house sitting. We have two Robo Dwarf Hamsters (they share a cage), and a Syrian(she has her own cage). Is it better to leave them here alone and check food and water daily or take them with us ( my boyfriend parents have a dog and they have never been around a dog before). We want what is best for them but are not sure what to do in this case. Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

Moving is very stressful on hamsters, so it's best to keep your hamsters at home.  Like you said, be sure to check on their food and change their water every day.  To be on the safe side, check on them at least 2 times per day.

If the dog stays indoors, close the door to keep him out of the room in which the hamsters live.  Dogs can be dangerous to hamsters.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask :)
