i just noticed today that my gerbil who is under one has lost some fur in the middle of his belly, hes eating well and drinking well is still very energetic what can this be. also his cage is cleaned regular no different food given

what type of bedding are you using? Sometimes it can be the bedding that's causing the hair loss. Cedar and pine are widely known to cause fur loss in animals, especially on the belly since they generally sleep with on their stomachs. Aspen is known to cause a few allergies every now and then, but that's a rare occurrence.
