i just got my hamster for the pet store a week ago i dont thing my hammster
has mites do you know other way to tell you your hammster has mites (not hair
loss) do you thing i should take him to the vet to get him a shot thank you bye

hi elliot,

another way to see if your hamster has mites is to check hid fur very closely and you will see tiny black dots moving around, or you can see if he seems to be scratching alot, bearing in mind hamsters like to clean themselves all the time, and they do scratch. so dont confuse this with symtpoms of mites. if he appears to stop suddenly and scratch himself really hard alot when he is awake, then this could indicate he has mites. if you think that he does, all you need to to do is by some mite spray from the pet store and spray him (avoid his eyes, nose and mouth) and all of his cage, including his ball, wheel and any toys he might have. this should get rid of them, so theres no point going to vets.
