Question
my hamster just have babys on sunday 9/3/06 and i was reading sone of the other one that others have asked you and in one of the answers you said to feed the mommy hard boiled eggs and diced carrots, should i do that or just let her eat what she has been eating, well i think she had 10 but i saw that there was one that was stell born i think, but she still has it in the nest with her, should i just leave it alone or what. she is doing good, but before she had her babies, i held her all the time, but now i dont think that i should hold her, cause i think that my sent will get on her then get on the babies and then she wont have nothing to do with them, but everytime i go to feed her she get mad at me cause i dont wont to hold her for that reason.
thanks,
nicole

Answer

Yes, you should feed her hard boiled eggs and carrots. Leave the baby in the nest, most likely she will eat it, but that will be fine, I know that sounds bad, but this way the mother gets protein from the baby. I'm sorry that I had to tell you that. Don't pick the mommy up, until the babies are two and a half weeks old. Then it is safe for you to hold the mommy for little amounts of time.

Thanks for writing, best of luck.
