Question
My hamster is really noisy when he drinks out of his bottle. He chews it and scratches at it. I have bought some spray wich stops them form chewing it. It works a bit but it still makes a really loud noise. I was wondering if it would be possible to get him to drink out of a bowl instead. If not could you give me some advice on what i could do please. Thanks.

Answer
Hamsters are silly sometimes and will bite the water bottle because they either haven't completely figured out how to get the water out, or they just like doing it (pretty annoying).

If you have a water bottle with a bead/metal marble at the end of the pipe, there are two things you could do.  First is to raise the water bottle so that the metal pipe is high enough so that the hamster will not bite it too much, but low enough for him to drink,  buy some chew toys too to distract him (if he does like biting things for fun).  Second thing is to look into buying the type that are all glass and have no ball.   It is possible for the hamster to drink out of a bowl.  However when you place a bowl in the cage, be advised that the hamster will likely bury it in it's shavings.  Hamsters will do this because they fear drowning in the bowl and it makes them feel secure to do this.  Good luck!
