my new hamster buddy

I just brought buddy home on Saturday. He was very active for the first two
days. I have noticed his bottom is dirty but his stools are hard. He is drinking
water and eating but he has been sleeping most of the night for the past two
days. Should I be worried?

Hi Tina,

    Generally when you bring a new hamster home, you should leave them alone for the first few days (just make sure they have food and water) so they can get used to their new home and surroundings.
    Are you sure the dirt on his bottom isn't stool? It could be that he is having some diarrhea, which could be do to food change and should defiantly be kept an eye on. If he starts to have no more solid stools, not drinking and diarrhea is defiant, then he should be seen by a vet as a hamster can dehydrate quickly.
