Question
i just got my hamster mr. jangles yesterday and so far he seems to like everything. but i was wonder cuz i heard you can feed hamsters fruits and vegetables, what kinds i can feed him because i don't want to give him anything that will make him sick.

Answer
hello alyssia,

mr.jangles is a good name! lol, yes hamsters can eat fruit and veg, but you should only limit it to 2 or 3 times a week, also  give it in small ammounts. hamster need to eat their muesili as it contains hard dried food that is good for their teeth and digestion.

you can give him things like lettace, cucumber, carrots, apples (no skin), all chopped into small pieces, peanuts (not salted, monkey nuts, de-skined are best) and raisins, but nothing acidic like oranges, bits of lemon, strawberries, etc. hamsters also love cheese, but only a tiny piece once a week. do try to avoid chocolate as its not a natural food in their diet(but if you have given him some dont worry, he'll be fine, just dont give him anymore), you can buy special hamster chocolate treats from your pet store.

i hope i've helped you out, and hope you have lots of fun with mr jangles. please feel free to ask again and leave a comment to let me know how you got on.

love joanne :)
