hamster BO

I have a teddy bear hamster and lately when I've been picking it up i notice a very strange smell, or you could call it hamster BO. i clean the cage out every week, buti sill notice a very bad smell, is there something I can do to keep the "hamster BO" away?

is your hamster normal otherwise? Eating and drinking okay, eyes clear, bottom is clean? If everything else is good than you may want to try Bi-Odor for Small animals. Make sure to buy the one specifically for small animals as the one for ferrets is too strong. You put it in their drinking water and it cuts down on the smell a lot. I use it for my hamster and he smells so much better and his cage smells better too. A better bedding like carefresh or soft-sorbent bedding also absorbs odor as well. :) I hope this helps. You can also give your hamster a bath using small animal shampoo.
