Hamsters eye problem

Hi,

I have had a hamster for 3 years now. The past month his eyes have been crusted shut and I have had to put warm water on them and massage them open every day. Without this he can not open his eyes. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

Hi Linda,

No, not really!! It will either be down to old age, as 3 is old for a hamster, or it will be a sign of an underlying illness. Either way i would visit the vet just to make sure, so that he is not ill, and they may be able to prescribe something to help him!!!
