can you keep them together when the mother has had babys

Hi Matthew,

Once the babies are 2 weeks old, you can start gently handling them.  At 3 weeks of age, you need to separate the babies by their sex.  Since dwarf hamsters are sociable, you can leave the female babies with the mother, and they can live peacefully together.  However, you absolutely need to move the males to a different cage at this time, to prevent unwanted breeding between brothers and sisters.
