I think my haster has wetail

Question
I have had my hamster for almost three years now. I went to Missouri for 2 months while my mom took care of him. But when I got back he was wet all up and down his stomach, and for the past few weeks he has been bleeding from his mouth and now he has a really bad odor coming from him. My brother has a hamster that we got at the same time from the same place. Does my hamster have wetail and should I keep him away from my brother's.

Answer
It is very possible your hamster has wet tail, your mom may have over fed the little guy fresh veggies and fruit, which can cause diarrhea. Only a vet can diagnose wet tail, and you must catch it asap, as wet tail is a fast killer. I don't recommend Dri-tail which you can get at most pet stores, your vet has much better antibiotics. Wet tail is also very contagious, keep the hamsters far away from one another, and wash your hands after handling the sick one to keep from spreading it on accident.
