my hamsters are now born

QUESTION: my hamsters were born sunday the 18 they are 6 days old i need to know when should i take them away from mom and when should i start changing the litter and if my hamsters are changed can they be put in boy and girl cages ps i realy dont no thair type not fluffy but the person i got them from said they are teddy bear hamsters please help !! i am woried about what 2 do thanks!!!
ANSWER: Hi John,

    When the babies are 2 weeks old you can hold them for a short period of time and the cage can then be cleaned.
    At 3 weeks of age, the babies will need to be separated form their Mom and each other (boys in one cage and girls in another).
    At 5-6 weeks of age, the babies will be ready to go to their new homes.

QUESTION: thank you so much !! i am young so i dont know much i need help with a few more things the oter things are my baby hmster keep fighting and they are new born why? and if i seperate them will the males fight each other or so i have heard my friend said he seperated them the males will want to be the kind of head of the group is this true and the last thing is this i have the mom and the babys (4)of 11 look like her is there a way that i can tell the diference from the mom and the babys?? i dont want to sell the mom please help me thanxx apreasiate the help
ANSWER: Hello again John,

    It is normal for the babies to squabble, this is nothing to worry about.
    When putting the male babies in the same cage, they play fight but this is normal too. But when they reach about 3 months old, then it is no longer play fighting.
    The Mom should be bigger than the babies, this is one way to tell which one is the Mom. If you can not tell that way, then look at their belly. You will be able to see Mom's teats and the hair around them is generally wet or may be missing.

QUESTION: so if my pet hamsters keep play fighting they cant kill each other they wont want to be the best at the domain and i just figured out that she set the hamsters in 2 diferent groups is this regular and sometimes im scared to change the food beacause she might bite me is there advise so that she wont bite me and after 3 weeks when i take them from mom will she attack me ???

    The babies will be fine, they really don't start "hurt" fighting until they are older (usually between 2 and 3 months of age).
    No need to be scared when changing the food. Mom is usually happy when more food is coming.
    Mom won't attack you when it comes time to remove the babies. Usually by this time, Mom is ready for them to go. If you are worried about this, take Mom out first. Put her a hamster ball, if you have one, or have someone hold her.
