my dwarf hamster bites in the cage but not out

dear Karen,
what can i do to make my hamste stop biting inside the cage my other hamster wont bite , but this one will.

Hi Megan,

    First, you should always wash your hands before handling your hamsters. If they smell food on them, they may think it is food and bite you.
    For the one that is biting in the cage try this, before picking him/her up, talk to them in a soft voice while putting your hand in the cage (this is to let them know that you are there). Let the one that is biting, see your hand, sniff it and walk on it. If it comes to your hand, then try petting him/her with your finger/s. If he/she lets you do this, then try picking him/her up.
     Sometimes when you go to pick up a hamster and they do not see your hand first, it startles (scares) them and they bite.
