Change in Hamster Urine

21 12:01:14

Question
Our hamster is 2.5 yrs old.  He has recently started urinating a white "buttery" substance.  COuld this be caused by protein in the urine due to old age?

Answer
Hi Logan,

A hamsters urine is generally a milky white color because of large number of small crystals it contains. This is normal.  Some owners just don't notice this until the hamster has pottied on them or on a surface where it is more noticeable.
