hello... i was just wondering.....

hello my name is racheal and just last night i got a 12 week old Hamster!i don't know what type of hamster it is, i don't know that much about them! Hamtaro is adjusting well to her new habitat!! i was more concerned on weather it would be ok to keep her in the basement(which is where i live), it gets kinda cold during the night,would that affect her in any way? could she get sick? when would be the best time to start introducing new foods, like celery, carrots, and other stuff like that to her? generally speaking how long should it take for her to be accustomed to me? is it better to have a cage with bars or is a glass cage ok to use? these are just a few fer now, i'm sure there will be more as time progresses... if you could help me that would be amazing!! :)

if you're basement is cold, i wouldn't suggest putting your hammy down there. there's a chance of getting sick, but i'd be more worried about her oging into a hibernation. give her a couple weeks before you start introducing her to new foods. and the same about holding her.

i preffer glass cages or storage bins as cages, they tend to be quieter. a bar cage is noisy, hamser like to chew the bars. this can eventually cause brain damage (from the rattling  of chewing the bars)
