Question
Hi

I have 2 dwarf male hamsters, and you see the problem is that
every time i put my finger in the cage or if i want to pick them
up, they punch me with their paw!?!?! It kinda hurts, and when i
touch them they get really scared like they run away from me!!!!
its like their loaners!!? But i just want them to react in a good
way when they see me, not punch me!!! and if i got a hold a of
them, they bite me!! so what can i do to get them out of their
shell and know that im not gonna hurt them!! and  maybe atleast
they'll stop biting!!!

P.S. My hamsters should be Boxing champions!!!

Answer
oh yes, that's normal for hamsters to defend themselves. You're going into their territory and they don't want you to bother them. The best thing to do is to open the cage door and allow them to come to you. Put some sunflower seeds on your hand to get them interested in your hand. Some hamsters will never want to be bothered with you and will always run away or fight. That's just hamsters being hamsters. :) It does take time and patience to get them to come to you and believe that you are not there to harm them.
