Question
I have got a russian dwarf hamster who on the 18 th july had 4 babies. i know that within the age of 3-4 weeks i have to separate them, but for the last few days they have been  fighting in lumps . is this normal ? , or is it safer to separate them now.

Answer
Hi Sharon!  :)

You can separate your babies now.  Dwarf hamsters are generally weaned by 18 days, although lots of breeders prefer to wait until 21 days just to make sure.  Yours are about 20 days old, and chances are they are just "mock" fighting or wrestling in play (to get ready for whenever they may have to fight for real as a adults) but to be safe you could separate them now and have no ill effects.

Thanks for the question!  Feel free to ask me anything else you may have concerns about.  :)
