well couple months ago i got 2 babies from the same litter and i brought them home and i had a cage and stuff for them well like 2 weeks ago i got them this bigger cage for the both of them and i put them in it but they were stressed cause of the new enviroment so then they got use to it and tonight i heard my one baby whining a little and i took her out of the cage and she stopped then i put her back in and she started whining again so then i asked some friens and they said seperate them for one so i did there in different cages but now there crying for each other...what should i do? they never fight with each other

Answer
Dear Megan,
thank you for your question.
Syrian hamsters are not social at all and will eventually fight for the death, coming from the same litter doesn't make any difference.
If they are still very young, they may still call for their family when alone for the first time. That will stop soon, though, and they will be perfectly happy on their own.
I would recommend seeing a vet with the hamsters to make sure the whining is not a sign of a respiratory infection. It's very unusual for hamsters to make any sound that humans can hear. You can find good rodent vets here:

I hope I was of some help to you
