QuestionHi,i have nine 28 day old pups.It look like there still drinkin the moms milk,so im not sure when i should take thte babies out.And how am i supposed to tell the difference between the males and females. Also am i able the keep the males alll together and the females in a different one,or do i need to put them all in there own seperate cages?thanks
AnswerHi Matthew,
The babies can be taken away from their Mother now. This is usually done at 3 weeks of age because hamsters can reproduce at this age, although they shouldn't. Males need to be in one cage and Females in another (not with Mom). When you pick up the babies, look at their privite area, Their will be Two little holes, If the holes are close together (..) when it is a female, if the holes are further apart (. .) then it's a male. Your hamsters will be ready to go to their new homes by 5-6 weeks of age.
