Hamster sleeping area

Question
My hamster (a young hamster less than 12weeks old) will only sleep in his wheel. He has the Critter Trail Dazzle cage (important because of the type of wheel). The wheel is up above the cage and has an area he can climb into and then down into a thin ring/running wheel. Everyday he fills up his cheek pouch with bedding (from down below) and takes it up there leaving it along with food. He also does his business up here. The only time he goes down to the bottom part of the cage is for water (rarely or to chew on the metal bars (maybe twice a week). I am worried about him. he also refuses to be touched. He had no human interaction before me but I have had him over a month now and still no improvement. Is it ok to let him live in his wheel!? Even when he fills it up and then runs with all that stuff in there? Why does he do this?

Answer
You need to train him. Put a treat in his cage and leave it next to your hand and let him get used to it. You should also get him a differnt cage I'm against all Critter Trail cages becuse they are too small. Mabey he is afarid of you. The reason he chews on the bars is becuse he wants out, mabey to play with you.
