Question
I am new at having hamsters and am a little confused by what to keep in the cage and what to take out while cleaning it.  Do I just dump the contents of the bedding and wood chips - am I suppose to preserve the food my hamster has put on his slide or in a corner?  Thanks,  Tara

Answer
Hi Tara!

When you clean the cage, you will want to remove all dirty bedding and old foodstuffs from the cage to prevent bacterial or fungal (mold) growth.  You should also wash food dishes and other cage accessories once a week.

Thanks for the question, and feel free to ask me any others you may have!
