Question
hi,
I have been searching the web for answers to my sick serian hamster who is less than a year old we just noticed it started bleeding from the eyes and nose it seems to be sleeping alot and not eating i have been giving it water with a dropper  this is my daughters pet and i have already called the vet who did not give me an answer i assume this is not good and it may die we are keeping it as comfortable as possible.  i really just need to know what happened and what does bloody eyes and nose mean  the only change in care was a change in temperature had to move to cellar because son allergic cellar is not heated

Answer
Heya,
I am not a vet but... looking at what you've written it sounds like a serious allergy, possibly some in the cellar, maybe a chemical or fumes or dust...or something down there, maybe that you wouldn't use where your hamster was before.
it sounds like maybe the mucus membranes are irritated, which is causing the bleeding. try and move the hamster to somewhere else in the house if you can.Hopefully it will clear up and he'll start eating again. try to coaux him to eat.if it is the membranes he won't be producing saliva properly.Give him soft wet foods, maybe liquidise carrot or apple in the syringe, and then if he accepts that, mushy foods, we have stuff called readybrek over in england, its like fine porridge.maybe even try baby food.
The cooler temperature would make him sleep more too. also hes probably feeling weak.
i hope this helps you out, try the vet again..maybe a different one. if this doesn't help make him as comfortable as possible with food and water available.
  good luck
