Feeding my Teddy Bear Hamster

Hi Heather,

I refill my hamster's food bowl on a daily basis. In the past I thrown away all the left over food. Recently I decided to get rid of only the food that would be bitten or moist and leaving the one that seems to be intact. Am I doing right or should I discard all the food as before?

I've heard conflicting opinions on whether to toss old food or keep it. My opinion is: it depends on your hamster. Ideally, if your throwing away food, you might be overfeeding for your hamster. What your doing certainly isn't harming anything though. It helps you to save food that's still good. You can continue sorting if you'd like, I'd also try cutting down on food just a little bit.
