Question
Hi. I have a Blackbear hamster and a syrian hamster. I do know they have began to mate, but i cant leave them in the same cage together. I only let them mate for like 10 or 15 minutes then i return them to their cages. Is that enough time? And will i get babies any time soon?

Answer
Hi Kiana,

As long as they are not fighting, you can let them mate for an hour. The 15 minutes could be enough time, but it is better to leave them together longer.
You may get babies soon, it just depends if their mating took. Usually after mating, you should check the female for the next 5 days to see if she comes back into heat, if she does, then she is not pregnant, if she don't come back into heat, then she is more than likely pregnant and you can expect the babies in 16 days (count 16 from the day they mated, this will be her due date).
