Russian Dwarf Hamsters Squeak!

Hiya, I have 2 Russian dwarf hamsters which were purchased from the same cage, at the same store, at the same time about a week ago. I have taken them home and have put them in their cage together. this has a large burrow basement at the bottom which is full of sawdust (obviously to burrow in!) when they are in there together i notice they make a loud squeaking noise. because of the sawdust i cannot see them so i cant see if they are fighting and that is what worries me. The store is prepared to take one back. should I do this? I have no idea of the age of my hamsters but i think they are fairly young.

Hi Steph,

    Dwarf hamsters will sometimes have little fights, this is normal and usually the fights are not serious. Should you start to notice battle wounds on one or both, then I would suggest separating them or taking one back.
