QuestionHello,
I have a russian dwarf hamster that has been with me for four months alone. He is handled a lot and is very tame and calm. i recently bought a robo dwarf who also seemed sweet yet very energetic. He is very skittish and very shy and does not like to be picked up very much. He is also half the size of my russian. I tried to put them together in a new cage with a wheel and lots of treats. Sometimes they seem to get along, and sometimes not. I am wondering if I should let my robo grow and mature being held and played with and then try to reintroduce them or something else should happen. I need some advice!!
Thanks,
Lisa
AnswerHi Lisa,
Roborovskis and Russian Campbells are only social to their own kind! They must never be put together with each other! Please do not put them together again - they will be very stressed out and may even kill each other if they are left together!!
Even when they are with their own kind, both species sometimes end up fighting with each other and need to be split up, so they are not even social with their own kinds sometimes, nevermind another species!!
Please keep them separate, they are both two old to be introduced to another hamster now, and have been used to living on their own, so they dont need company - they will not get lonely!
Please keep them in separate cages and always play with them separately too.
Kind Regards,
Tammy
