Still born babies

Hey, my hamster gave birth yesterday and im worried they may be a dead pup or two in her bedding although i cant see any, there is a small bit of blood in her bedding and i really want to check and remove any of the dead pups but im not sure if i should disturb her nest, what should i do?

Hi James,

it is best not to disturb the nest at all for the first two weeks but there is dead babies in there, the mother might eat them.

This will not harm her and will probably give her back the goodness her body needs to care for the other babies.

It is up 2 you really if you leave them in there or get them out - but if there are any deaad ones after about two days then it is best to remove them.
