Question
Hi. I have a Dwarf Campbells Russian Hamster who is about 7 months old and he had been fine until 1 hour ago when he had appeared wobbly/unballanced. A few hours ago i gave him a TINY piece of chocolate biscotti (i dont know why, i guess that was stupid) and i need to know if his sudden illness could be caused by me giving him that. (i now know chocolate is poisonous and will not do it again). Also, i have noticed for the last three months his excessive urination to the point that i change the shavings EVERYDAY. does this sound like diabeties to you? poisoning? Is it fatal, should i go to a vet?

THANK-YOU

Answer
Hi Melissa,

It is very possible it is from the chocolate. Glad to here you won't do that again. As far as the excessive urination, this could be a sign of diabeties. Dwarf hamsters are very susceptible to diabeties. Watch him closely and if he doesn't act any better and is still urinating a lot I would suggest consulting with a vet.

Thank you for your question and best of luck to you and your hamster.
