Question
i have a pair of robroskis, if the female has mated, sohuld they male and the female be seperated? If they are seperated, will they fight when being put back again?

Answer
Hi Calvin!  Thanks for the question.

The dwarf hamsters are social and they do not need to be separated after breeding like the Syrians.  In fact, the male helps the female to raise the litter by bringing her food so she doesn't have to get off the nest in the first few days, and later on by catching stray young that have wandered out of the nest and returning them.

The only reason you would want to separate them is if you don't want any more babies, and as the Roborovskis do not breed readily and have a very short breeding season, unwanted litters should hardly be a problem.

So leave him be unless you see a problem develop!

Congrats on breeding your Roborovski's, by the way, that's something that even some professionals have been unable to achieve.

Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have!
