Question
Hello,
I have had my hamster for almost 2 years, and he has been a great pet! About 4 days ago, I noticed while cleaning his cage that his pooh was not normal, and it smelled "off" I figured it was wet-tail, and since it was Christmas eve, prepared myself for the worst. Chandler is still around, and quite active, eating and drinking normally (probably drinking more then normal). His pooh is green now, and quite soft looking. I have heard mixed reviews on dri-tail, and I am kind of skeptical about giving it to him... what would you suggest?

Answer
Hi Lyss, it sounds like little chandler may have an infection, it is unlikely to be wet tail as this is a condition that baby hamsters get. the best thing i can reccommend is to take him to the vet at your first opportunity as he will need antibiotics to clear it up. the other thing you mentioned is the excessive drinking, i have noticed over the years that hamsters of about two start to drink more water, unfortunately this is not a positive sign and usually indicates them going down hill. pop him to the vets though and get a professional opinion, i hope this helps, good luck, Jen
