Question
Dear Shawntiah Jones,Id like to know if its possible for hamsters to go into a coma?Becuase my hamster(gabriella)went into the point where she died.It was a snowy day and our electricity went out, so the heater didnt work. The electric was off and on.i was going to bed and I was going to see My hamster and she didnt move I thought she was dead. She was very COLD.She didnt breathe or move at all.i called all the vets i could find In our area only one called back and told me to give her Gatorade.I tried warming her up with warm towels.Later I gave her gatorade she stared responding.she started moving. She is so much better now.I am always very preocupied about her.i think this happened because she got too cold,But i want to be sure.I bought a little portable heater for her so she is nice and warm, just in case this could happen again. Please answer my question when you can.THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!

Answer
hamsters don't like it cold. they are found in the desert and prefer heat. hamsters can go into a coma and then out. she probably did get too cold and dehydrated. I will recommend gatorade to others when their hamsters get sick. A little bit of gatorade helps retain water and keep them hydrated.
