Hamster ate glass...

Question
I had a glass water thing I got at Petco. I came home today and when I noticed
his water was empty I took it out and noticed the part where he drinks from is
completely broken and sharp. I didn't see any blood or glass in the cage. So I am
assuming he ate it. I am screwed please help me. Thanks!

Hi Steffie, well hes got an odd taste in treats! clear out his cage as soon as you can to ensure all the debris has gone, when you do this check his bedding to see if there is anything in there or in any poo he has done overnight, the only thing you can do is monitor him really unless you want to take him for an Xray but this in its self is a risk. it may be that he just put it in his bedding as i dont see that he would find it very pleasant to eat. give him a good check over to make sure he has no cuts anywhere. keep an eye on his poo over the next few days to make sure he is going and has no blockages. oh and you may want to take the drinker back to the shop and complain as this shouldn't have happened. glass is not a good material to use for any kind of animals, when you next get him a bottle make it a plastic one with a metal spout! let me know how you get on, I'm intrigued! good luck, Jen
