hamster loosing fur

hi, my daughter has a Syrian hamster, a light grey satin short haired, she is 1yr 4mth old, we noticed 2 black spots (like sml moles) on both sides near her hips and on one side she is loosing fur, i have checked for mites but found none, she doesen't seem to be scratching at the area of the fur loss, i have read some of the post regarding fur loss but doesn't help me regarding black spots,please could you help because where not sure wot it is.

Hi Rich,

These mole like spots on her hip area sound like her scent glands. They are perfectly normal. They are usually more noticeable on male hamsters than females. These glands can become sore or inflamed. If that happens then veterinary advice should be sought. The fur loss is probably due to aging. This is very common, especially after the 1-1 1/2 year mark.
