my gerbil seems really sick

my gerbil hasn't been looking good for about 2 weeks. its 3 years old and i'm actually not sure of the sex, but we think its a male. both of its eyes seemed glued shut with discharge, and after cleaning its face one eye has come open. it also has a strange underbelly, at first glance it looked pregnant, but it has a big purple looking lump it keeps trying to clean. it's also been squeaking consistently. its eating and drinking fine, i'm just worried about how it looks and why it wont stop squeaking. and i feel stupid about not knowing the sex. please help!

Hi Alex,

The best advice i can give on this one is take your gerbil to the vets. When they are old they become prone to illnesses and problems, this sounds as though it is something which needs to be examined before you can have a diagnosis.
