QuestionI have a female syrian dwarf hamster and she has a bald patch on her front left leg as you look at her, it just looks skin coloured with no inflammation or flakeyness what could be wrong with her?
AnswerHi Vickie
Sometimes hamsters do develop bald patches and often it is nothing to worry about. Baldness can come from mites or some other skin irritation - in which case it is usually sore, flakey etc. Other times they can lose their fur because of hormonal problems, or constant rubbing.
I would be tempted to monitor the situation - if the area of baldness gets bigger or changes, then it would be worth getting veterinary advice, otherwise this might just clear up on its own.
