Question
Me and my roommate got 2 dwarf hamsters about a month ago 1 female 1 male. When we got her she was in a cage of all males, we brought the 2 home and they were together for about 2 weeks and we thought that she was pregnant since she was in the all boys cage when we got her... so we gave her fruits and salads for the high protein foods and then about a week and a half ago our male died. we don't know what happened he was just stiff the next day. we took him out of the cage and this whole time later she still hasn't had babies she made her nest and she has lost fur down there and everything but we've had her for about a month maybe a little more. I just thought that they were only supposed to be pregnant for 3 weeks at the most. What happened to the babies? What should we do?

Answer
Hi Rachel

The usual gestation period for a dwarf is between 18-21 days.  Sometimes they do conceive but then for various reasons they reabsorb (miscarry).  This could be what happened.  How is she in herself?  Does she look well?

Don't overfeed her right now in case she is pregnant as you don't want any unborn babies getting too large for her.  I would wait 21 days from the last day the male was with her in case she reabsorbed the litter and then re-mated with him.  If no babies appear then, you know for sure that she isn't pregnant.  If she does produce a litter, you can increase her food - give her human baby food (powdered type) mixed with water.
