Gerbil Housing

I am soon going to get two gerbils, and i was wondering if two gerbils kept in a group of about 7 or 8 at a pet store would get along peacefully when alone together in their own cage at my house.

Hi Moki,

Yes, they should get along fine, especially if they're siblings.  (Although it's not absolutely necessary to get siblings.) Also, they should be of the same age - around 6-8 weeks old.  And, obviously, they should be of the same sex.  It doesn't matter if they're both male or both female; it's up to you.

Make sure you have a large cage.  If you have an aquarium, it should be at least 10 gallons.  When gerbils are kept in small quarters, they're more likely to fight.
