Question
thank you so much for your advice sheila it has worked. I moved his cage into the lounge where there is a lot more activity and what a change it has made, now everytime somebody goes near the cage sweep runs straight over to the door wanting to be played with, he especially loves his ball now and some times I struggle to get him back in his cage without him trying to make a leap out of my hand back on to my arm.
I have removed the house and he now pee's in the corner of the cage and has made a new nest in a large kitchen paper roll, he seems much happier and relaxed about noises etc.

Thanks again for your advice!

Answer
Hi Stephanie

I'm really glad he is getting on a lot better. Hamsters are very nosey and once they realise there is a big world just waiting to be explored they are usually much more interested.  I'm glad he's fitting in now as one of the family.

Regards
Sheila
