hamster , mouse, or gerbil?

  I am looking to buy two small mammals to be pets for my little girls. (cared for by adults)    They need to share a cage and hopefully be friendly. Do you think hamsters, mice, or gerbils would be most apropriate, and do you know of a specific breed that is good?  Thank you for your time.

 Hi. I'm wondering how little your girls are. If they are very young, i would reccomend none of those. Mice and Gerbils are very active and small and i would say your girls would have to be at least seven to handel them. Hamsters do not get along in pairs and will most likely kill eachother. Gerbils do great in pairs, just make sure the pairs are same sex. Good luck!
